This marigold may not be the most impressive plant you've ever seen, I get it. But to me, it's one of my biggest accomplishments in the garden this year. I saved seeds from the summer marigold I bought at a local nursery (bottom left), and managed to grow a whole new plant worth potting.

She ain't pretty, but she does the trick. Next year I'll build a proper insect netting structure, but for now I'm getting by with binder clips and lots of wishful thinking.

After weeks growing indoors under an LED light in my old master bathroom shower, my seedlings finally moved outdoors full-time. Really proud of those healthy-looking roots!

Progress in the seed-starting tray is remarkable. The new grow light is producing great results. I keep checking on my plants throughout the day, and each time they look bigger. Pure magic, honestly.

Okay, I cheated a little and bought some broccoli, lettuce, and brussels sprouts plugs at my local hardware store. I only went in to spend my 401k on dirt. It was an honest mistake. While harvesting the last veggies from my dwindling summer garden, Kayla helped me build an insect netting structure to protect the new plants.
